McDonald's last had a chicken strip option on the permanent menu in 2020, when it discontinued the Buttermilk Crispy Tenders. Before that, Chicken Selects were on the menu from 2004 to 2013.
The tenders are an extension of the chain’s crispy chicken sandwich, its last permanent menu item, which McDonald’s began selling in 2021 after a Popeyes version exploded in popularity.
A strong combination of value offerings, LTOs and new menu items drove sales growth in the U.S. for Q2, executives said.
