The thunderstorms on July 28 produced two damage-causing tornadoes in South Dakota, and a third in Iowa, according to the National Weather Service.

An EF-0 twister reportedly moved along Fox Lake Road in between Canaan Center Road and Route 3 for two minutes around 7 p.m.

The Weather Service rated the tornado an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which has six levels. The damage "was consistent with estimated wind speeds of 110 mph," the report said.

The Enhanced Fujita Scale, which came into use on Feb. 1, 2007, assigns tornadoes a rating based on wind speeds estimated off of damage.
