In the aftermath of a devastating avalanche in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, ITBP Commandant Vijay Kumar P confirmed that 47 out of 55 trapped individuals have been rescued. ITBP Commandant Vijay Kumar P said,

With a population of around 1,200, Mana is located at an altitude of 10,500 feet, just 55 km from the India-China border, and is often referred to as the "first Indian village".
