Eagles sources say the team is planning on visiting the White House this off-season and looks forward to receiving its invitation.

Jalen Hurts hadn't even taken off his eye black, and still had his Super Bowl championship hat and T-shirt on after the Philadelphia Eagles had won the NFL championship, when he was asked by a reporter if the Eagles planned to visit the White House.

The Philadelphia Eagles gladly would accept the invitation to the White House traditionally extended to Super Bowl champions, multiple outlets reported. That refutes rumors that reached a crescendo Monday that Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie would decline to visit with President Donald Trump.

It was only a matter of time before the Eagles began trending again.  An internet firestorm ignited Sunday over an allegation that the Super Bowl champions had declined an invitation to the White House.

Reports that the Eagles have declined a White House invitation are unsubstantiated. Trump announced Tuesday that he planned to formally invite the team for a White House visit, and no members of the Eagles ownership, front office, management, nor any players have publicly said the team has declined or will decline an invitation.

The Eagles faced backlash over an anonymously sourced report before the Super Bowl claiming a White House trip was a “massive no” for team leadership.

Following the parade, it's a tradition for Super Bowl champions to visit the White House. Leading up to the big game in New Orleans, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was asked about visiting President Donald Trump should they defeat the Chiefs. Lurie deflected and said, "I just want to win Sunday."
