Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired a general whose agency’s initial intelligence assessment of U.S. damage to Iran nuclear sites angered President Donald Trump.

The firing comes just weeks after a White House rebuke of a leaked intelligence report assessing the impact of US strikes on Iran.

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse was fired as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency the same week the Air Force's top general hastily retired.
