Since his debut season in 2022-23, it’s been clear that the Dallas Stars ’ future revolves around forward Wyatt Johnston. He was the team’s leading scorer in just his second NHL season.

Johnston is the third forward in Stars history selected to the All-Rookie Team, alongside Robertson (2020-21) and Mike Modano (1989-90). Johnston has also tied the NHL rookie lead with 24 goals.

Johnston’s career already has been a rocket ride. He didn’t play the year before his draft season because of COVID, but Dallas still took him 23rd overall in 2021.

On Tuesday, the Stars were down 2-0 when Stankoven’s work forced the Sharks into consecutive penalties. Dallas scored on both (including a power play goal by the rookie) and that changed the game.
