Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has provided an update on Alexander Isak ’s fitness ahead of the Carabao Cup final. Isak missed Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday with a slight groin problem but returned to the starting lineup for their dramatic FA Cup fifth round defeat to Brighton on Sunday.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has provided an update on Alexander Isak after the striker appeared to limp off with an injury during their FA defeat to Brighton. Isak has been in superb form for Newcastle all season and was a welcome return to the starting XI having missed his side’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in midweek due to a groin injury.

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon was also shown a straight red card in the FA Cup defeat to Brighton, ruling him out of the Carabao Cup final.
