After a five-month closure due to Hurricane Helene, a 12-mile stretch of I-40 near the Tennessee border will reopen on Saturday.

With Interstate 40 re-opening, many may be eager to hit the road to see the flood damage on the way to Tennessee. But the road shouldn't be used for cruising pleasure trips, not yet, said Haywood County Emergency Services Public Information Officer Allison Richmond.
