Hong Kong has been hit by Typhoon Wipha, making landfall on Sunday with wind speeds of over 99mph. Evacuations were carried out in the region.

The tropical cyclone made landfall in mainland China late Sunday afternoon with winds near to those of a Category 1 Atlantic hurricane.

Typhoon Wipha has toppled trees and caused major flight disruptions in Hong Kong and at some nearby airports in China as it moved west off the country’s southern coast.
