Negotiators working on a landmark treaty to address the global crisis of plastic pollution failed to reach an agreement during talks that extended into Friday in Geneva.

“We were ready to negotiate and a lot of countries were,” said Danish environment minister Magnus Heunicke, on behalf of the EU, following the closing plenary on Friday morning.
