The Indiana Pacers rewarded coach Rick Carlisle with a multiyear contract extension Tuesday following the team's surprising run to the NBA Finals. Team officials made the announcement about one month before the Pacers open training camp.

The news comes a little less than two months after Indiana's storybook season ended in the NBA Finals with a Game 7 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was only the second time the franchise made the NBA Finals, and its first trip there since 2000.

The Indiana Pacers and coach Rick Carlisle agreed to a multiyear extension, league sources confirmed to UPI on Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
