Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury, sources have told ESPN. The 26-year-old missed an open training session at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday but it is currently unclear how severe the issue is.

Arsenal are expected to first look at the loan and bargain basement markets if Kai Havertz is ruled out for a prolonged period of time with a knee injury.

Havertz is understood to be struggling with a knee issue that Arsenal are currently assessing to learn the extent of it. If the German is out for an extended period of time then it could force the Gunners to enter the transfer market before it closes on September 1.
