A 70-year-old man died after he was involved in a fatal fireworks accident in Wareham Friday night, officials said.

A 70-year-old man was reportedly killed setting off fireworks when one exploded in his face on a Wareham beach during Fourth of July celebrations, the Plymouth DA and State Fire Marshal announced Saturday.

Across the country, a series of incidents involving fireworks have turned dangerous and, in some cases, deadly on or ahead of the Fourth of July holiday this year. NBC News’ Camila Bernal has more.
