Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Bermuda, forecasters said Saturday. Fernand is the sixth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and it comes on the heels of Hurricane Erin, which formed in a similar area on Aug. 15.

The storm is expected to "move well east of Bermuda and across the open waters of the subtropical North Atlantic," the National Hurricane Center said.

Tropical Storm Fernand formed in the open ocean, hundreds of miles from any land Saturday afternoon, hurricane forecasters say. Another system is also being tracked that has low chances of becoming a tropical storm next week.
