A Stow man has been charged by federal authorities, accused of smuggling foreign-made body armor and falsely claiming it was domestically made and certified.

CLEVELAND, Ohio— A Stow business owner is accused of selling counterfeit body armor imported from China to more than a dozen law enforcement agencies, including Akron, Rocky River and Columbus police.

Vall Iliev's company ShotStop Ballistics LLC was accused of selling bogus armor to the Akron Police Department to outfit its SWAT officers.

A Stow man has been charged in the United States Northern District of Ohio Court on three counts for smuggling foreign-made body armor.
