The chances of a cyclone forming near Florida have again increased, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) say. If tropical storm formation occurs, it will become the third named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season,

Repeated rounds of stormy weather loitering off the Southeast coast could do more than just dampen fireworks celebrations in Florida this weekend – there’s a good chance it becomes hurricane season’s next named storm.

For boaters on Saturday look out for scattered storms, otherwise we will see partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with a 50% chance for rain. Winds will be out of the west at 5-10 knots and seas runnin 1 foot or less. Look for a light chop on the waters away from the storms.

A tropical system and the heavy rains accompanying it could lead to flash flooding across Florida and other parts of the coastal Southeast this weekend. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said there is a 60 percent chance that the system will organize into a tropical depression in the next few days somewhere off the coast of Florida,

Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue for Northeast Florida and the peninsula into early next week.
