Like the film, the TV project is based on Kevin Kwan’s book series of the same name. “Crazy Rich Asians” was published in 2013, followed by “China Rich Girlfriend” in 2015 and “Rich People Problems” in 2017. Kwan executive produced Lim and Chu’s 2018 film and will also executive produce the Max series.

After years of starts and stops and development, we may finally get a return to the world of “Crazy Rich Asians.” A new series is in development from Warner Bros. Television for Max that will be based on Kevin Kwan’s book series and will bring back the 2018 film’s writer Adele Lim to serve as the series showrunner,

Max has opened up a development room for the Crazy Rich Asians television series, with writer Adele Lim and Jon M. Chu returning to the franchise. A sequel film is also in the works.
