Detainees at the Florida immigration facility have been on a hunger strike for several days, protesting conditions at the center.

One of the detainees, Pedro Hernández, was hospitalized during the strike but continued to refuse food, he said on Thursday.

One detainee in the South Florida centre has been hospitalised but continues to refuse food. He said: "I'm not going to eat another plate of food until they show us respect."
