Gray Media has purchased 10 local TV stations, including WREX in Rockford, from Byron Allen Media for $171 million, subject to regulatory approval.

The $171 million station sale comes after Allen spent hundreds of millions of dollars with a goal of becoming the nation's largest independent broadcaster.
